SPECIAL PROGRAMMES (included in fees)
In addition to the Learning Centre programme, we also offer:
Bonkers Beat Music & Wellbeing: Our educators run special Music groups every day, to introduce the children to a variety of multicultural music and basic musical concepts. This is based on Bonkers Beat Music and Wellbeing, teaching children through music, and encouraging physical wellbeing and relaxation through yoga and meditation.
Gross Motor: We run Fundamental Movement Skills programmes with the support of the Munch & Move Programme developed by NSW Health. The educators work with children in small groups, teaching and targeting specific fundamental movement skills for learning and practice such as balance, throwing and catching, and basic skills required for sporting activities.
Passion Performing Arts: These dance and movement classes are wonderful for the children’s music and movement skills and allow them to express themselves in a physical and creative way, with a fun and enthusiastic dance teacher who also does an end of year concert for her students.
Mandarin Language Classes, Violin Classes, Little Scientist Classes.
Children need multiple ways to build a solid identity and connections with those around them – their families, peers, role models, culture and community, and the natural world. Children bring a powerful drive to learn and understand what’s around them. They learn best when offered interesting materials, ample time, and opportunity to investigate, transform and invent.” (Designs for Living and Learning: Transforming Early Childhood Environments – by Deb Curtis and Maggie Carter, 2003)
Mandarin Language Classes: All children participate in mandarin classes on a Tuesday and Thursday. This is done in a fun way through music and puppets.
Violin Classes: Children from 2-6 participate in these lessons on a Friday. This is a developmental programme that builds the following skills in children – visual discrimination, cognitive skills and fine motor.
Little Scientist Classes: We welcome children to the wonderful world of science. Science doesn’t need the right answer to inspire. Science poses questions. Science is part of the daily curriculum and a scientist comes and works with the children on a Wednesday.
EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES (additional fees – optional for parents to enrol in)
Incursions: We have incursions once per quarter. These are based on cultural celebrations as well as children’s interests. There is a combination of ways in which the incursions are run, as well as the themes, including: storytelling, puppetry, music and movement, exploring nature, and sustainability, amongst others. These generate a $10 surcharge if families sign permission.
